Air New Zealand will start work next month on a new and larger regional lounge at Auckland Airport.
The flag carrier is investing NZ$60m to transform its lounges throughout the country over the next two years. In Auckland it will triple the size of the existing facility, enabling it to cater for up to 265 customers when it’s scheduled to open in mid-2019.
In Wellington the lounge is set to be refurbished with a 10% increase in seating to 374, along with six different zones to meet the needs of all customers – including a café and bar, a barista station, and business and quiet areas.
The carrier’s general manager customer experience, Anita Hawthorne, noted: “We know there’s huge demand for Air New Zealand’s network of lounges, so we’re delighted to be able to go through the process of redeveloping our regional lounges in Auckland, Christchurch, Nelson and Tauranga along with our domestic lounge in Wellington to enhance the experience our customers have on the ground before they fly.”
